IPL 2017: Sunrisers Hyderabad aim to book their playoffs berth

With Kings XI Punjab (as they have won their last two matches) breathing down on the neck of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the fourth position, it has added pressure on the David Warner side as now they need to win their last match of the league to confirm their playoffs place.

When Sunrisers and Lions had clashed earlier in the season, the defending champions had absolutely thrashed the Suresh Raina’s side by 9 wickets and with 27 balls left. The visitors have all to play for as the win will assure them a place in the final four while the hosts will once again be playing for pride.

Gujarat has had a disappointing season this year after they were the table-toppers in the previous edition. They have lacked a sting in their bowling department as they were not able to defend two big totals against an inexperienced batting line-up of Delhi Daredevils. They definitely miss the services of Andrew Tye who was doing a great job for them but unfortunately the Australian bowler got injured.

They showed great skills in the fielding department in the last match against DD as they effected three run-outs (all direct hits) but still found themselves on the losing side. Finch played a fine knock of 69 off 39 but his efforts were overshadowed by Shreyas Iyer brilliance. The home side is expected to take the field with only three foreign players once again as they don’t have many options.

SRH had a good last game against table-toppers Mumbai Indians and that win must have done their confidence a world of good. Their two southpaws at the top have been among the runs and are also at the top of the most run getters in the season.

Ashish Nehra pulled his hamstring against RPS and his participation will come with a question mark for the team. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan have continued to impress and are the trump holders in the bowling department. Yuvraj Singh has been amongst the runs and that’s a good sign for the team.

Mohammed Nabi had bowled a fine spell of 1 for 13 in his quota of 4 overs and most probably that should assure him the place in the playing XI.

Match Prediction: The Green Park was a paradise for the batters in the last match against DD and it is expected to remain the same. SRH will enter the contest as favourites given their strong bowling line-up and that should give them a slight edge over Gujarat Lions.

Toss Prediction: SRH will win the toss and will elect to field.
