Rahul Sharma picks up the first hattrick in International Masters League history!

Former Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma has just etched his name in gold after becoming the first player in the history of the International Masters League to pick up a hat-trick. He did that today in the 7th match of the ongoing edition of the tournament between India Masters and South Africa Masters, which was played at the DY Patil Stadium.

India Masters won the toss and opted to bowl first. It ended up being the perfect decision for them, as South Africa were all down for just 85 runs. Most of the credit for that goes to Rahul Sharma, who picked up the first three wickets and that too, with a hat-trick. It happened in the fourth over.

He first picked up the wicket of Hasim Amla on the first delivery and then progressed to pick up the wickets of Jacques Kallis and Jacques Rudolph. South Africa even took a review for the third wicket, which was an LBW but in vain. The umpire gave him a send off and Rahul Sharma’s hattrick was successful.

Henry Davids ended up being South Africa’s highest runscorer with 38 runs in 28 deliveries. Pawan Negi also picked up 2 wickets for India, while Yuvraj Singh picked up 3 wickets. As a result, South Africa could only score a total of 85 runs.

Coming in to chase, India chased the total down in just 11 overs, thanks to Ambati Rayudu’s knock. He alone scored 41 runs in 34 deliveries and did half of the job for India Masters. He was unbeaten till the very end. Pawan Negi’s unbeaten 21 also assisted Rayudu a lot.
