History set to repeat itself for India? Crazy Similarities between 2015 WC, 2023 WC and 2025 CT

The cricketing world has apparently come full circle. The resemblance between the 2023 World Cup, the 2015 World Cup and the Champions Trophy 2025 have been crazy. It started with the fans realizing that the same four teams qualified for the semifinals of all these tournaments. However, more and more similarities between these tournaments are now coming and they are really very interesting.

Let’s first talk about the similarities between the 2023 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy because that was more recent.

In both tournaments, KL Rahul finished with a six in India’s first match. In the second match, India won by chasing and Kohli was not out both the tournaments. Also, Afghanistan defeated England. Last but not least, of course, India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand were the semifinalists.

Now talking about the similarities between the 2015 World Cup and the 2025 Champions trophy, Kohli scored a century against Pakistan in both tournaments. India faced Australia in the semifinals, where in the opposition team had a ‘Johnson’ – Mitchell Johnson last time and Spencer Johnson this time. Knockouts were played in the month of March. Semifinals were played in different countries – UAE and Pakistan this time and Australia and New Zealand that time. Moreover, the next T20WC will be played in India in 2026. Back during the 2015 World Cup, the next World Cup was again played in India.

Both times KKR beat an aussie captain in the Finals – George Bailey and Pat Cummins. Dravid back in Rajasthan Royals both times. Lastly, Ashwin played for Chennai Super Kings both years.
