Cheteshwar Pujara smacks high class century for Sussex, hits boundries for fun.

Cheteshwar Pujara undoubtedly has been one of the most influential cricketers in the history of the game. The 35 year old batsman has been a classical example with his perfect techniques with the bat in hand. Be it timing, temperament, placement or any other aspect of batting, this player has been a brilliant in terms of executing them all on the cricket pitch. Sussex faced off against Northamptonshire in the ongoing Metro Bank One Day Cup. Sussex won the toss and opted to bat first. The side didn’t get off to a good start as both the opening batters were dismissed with just 21 runs on the board. Cheteshwar Pujara who came out to bat at no.3 in the 6th over itself looked in fine touch right from the beginning. The right hander played crisp shots to maintain the momentum and not let the bowlers settle down at any point of time. However he didn’t get much support from the other end as wickets kept tumbling and Sussex were dour down with the score still under 100.

This didn’t stop Pujara from playing his natural game as he continued to dominate the opposition almost single handedly with fluent strokes. He eventually brought up a magnificent century and ended unbeaten at 119 off just 106 balls. Thanks to his decent contribution with the bat, Sussex were able to reach 240/5 in their registered 45 overs in a rain marred game. Despite Pujara’s heroics, Sussex failed to end on the winning side as Northamptonshire strolled to a three wicket win with 7 balls to go in a highly intense match.
