Wriddhiman Saha

WATCH: Wriddhiman Saha takes a sensational review to send off Jitesh Sharma

In the ongoing 18th match of IPL 2023 between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings, GT won the toss and opted to bowl first. Punjab Kings did decently in the first innings and put up a total of 153 in 8 overs which is not that high but can be defended by the able bowling side of Punjab Kings.

Near the end of the first innings, we saw a moment of brilliance from Gujarat Titans wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha that forced the departure of in form Jitesh Sharma. Jitesh was batting on 25(23) at that time and had just gotten set.

Bowler Mohit Sharma’s delivery seemed to go past his outside edge, missing it by whiskers and it was caught behind by Wriddhiman Saha. Nobody appealed apart from the keeper but he was persuasive enough – forcing captain Hardik Pandya to go for the review.

Gujarat Titans had already lost one of the reviews and thus it was a risky call for Pandya. Yet, he chose to trust Saha’s instincts and it turned out to be true. The ultra-edge clearly showed that there was the tiniest of edges on that and thus the on-field umpire had to change his decision and Jitesh Sharma had to depart.

Mohit Sharma’s performance tonight was sensational. He picked up two wickets tonight at an economy of just 4.50. He conceded just 18 runs in his allocated 4 overs.
