Return of Match fixing in IPL? Big Player gets approached for Inside information!

According to latest reports, Royal Challengers Bangalore player Mohammad Siraj was approached by a cricket gambler for inside information about the RCB team. Mohammad Siraj has reported an unfair approach report to BCCI and the board is now investigating the incident.

It is being said that it was an ordinary taxi driver who is addicted to betting who contacted Mohammad Siraj and not a bookie. He probably wanted to know about the tactics and playing XIs of RCB.

“It wasn’t a bookie who approached Siraj. It is a driver from Hyderabad who is addicted to betting on matches. He had lost huge money and approached Siraj for inside information. Siraj reported the approach immediately. The law enforcement authorities have nabbed the man. More details are being awaited,” said a BCCI official.

It was smart of Mohammad Siraj to inform BCCI about the incident as we know how strict the board is about its anti corruption policy. Previously, we have seen players like Ajit Chandila, S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan being banned from playing cricket permanently because of match fixing accusations. Since then, players have been very cautious about this thing.

Each IPL franchise has an ACU official whose work is to check that players are not indulging in any sort of malpractice like match fixing. They also monitor all sorts of development inside the stadiums before an during the matches.

Mohammad Siraj has not been able to perform consistently that much in IPL 2023 so far. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling lineup has performed poorly as a whole so far this season though. They are visibly back to their old self and once again their bowlers are letting their batters down.

They will take on Punjab Kings at the PCA stadium tomorrow from 3:30PM. They would give it their all to win this match.
