When MS Dhoni destroyed Lankans in the final over

It was the 2013 West Indies Tri-Nation series, the Caribbeans were already bowed out of the series which meant the heck of a Celkon Mobile Cup Final between India and Sri Lanka which had a traumatic climax at the end.

Sri Lanka posted a collective score of a tricky 201 with the help of Kumar Sangakkara’s top-notch 71 and Lahiru Thirimanne’s supportive 46 while the Indian bowlers did ruin the Lankan-tail by the likes of Ravindra Jadeja’s 4/23 and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 2/24.

In reply to the modest total with plenty of overs to complete the assignment, only Rohit Sharma up the order played very well against the Lankans and made a motivating 58 to his name whereas others didn’t stand any chance to hunker on the pitch. But, MS Dhoni ensured to stay calm and composed even after India lost 9 wickets in the Cup Final contest.

India required 15 runs off the last over to seal the ropes and the match could have gone on either side of the fence but with MS Dhoni on the crease, the wind waved on the Indian side. The Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews handed over the ball to Shaminda Eranga to bowl the final over and the rest is history.
