Rishabh Pant returns to National Cricket Academy – Set to make a comeback earlier than expected

As many of you will remember, Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant suffered a horrible car accident a few months ago in which he got severely injured. It was due to the same reason that he was ruled out if IPL 2023 and he will probably not be fit to feature in the 2023 ODI World Cup too which is a major blow for team India.

However, the youngster is said to be recovering better than expected. He was earlier expected to have a number of additional surgeries after the main surgery on his Medial Collateral Ligament and also damaged his ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament).

It was being considered that Pant might need a Posterior cruciate ligament surgery as well. However, he has been naturally healing since the major surgery and thus the doctors decided not to proceed with any further surgeries.

He has now returned to NCA (National Cricket Academy) in Bangalore yo start his rehabilitation.

“Let’s make it clear that Pant never had multiple surgeries as was speculated. There was much anxiety over another surgery. He was monitored every fortnight. Fortunately, his progress has been better than expected. This is a big boost for him. It could mean his comeback can happen a lot earlier than what was first expected,” a BCCI source told TOI.

Pant’s IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, of which he is the captain, performed horribly in the IPL 2023 without him. David Warner replaced him as the captain of the team and they finished 9th on the points table, second last to only Sunrisers Hyderabad. This is one of DC’s worst performances in the recent past in the Indian Premier League.

Apart from missing out on IPL 2023, as we mentioned earlier, Rishabh Pant will also be missing out on the WTC final between Australia and India and also the ODI World Cup as we mentioned earlier. It will be a major loss for Team India.
