The event has seen several wonderful moments until now on and off the pitch. Amidst several moments that took the fans by surprise, one was that of Virat Kohli’s bowling action that took place during the India vs Bangladesh match in MCA stadium in Pune.
India were asked to bowl first by Shanto – Bangladesh’s skipper after having lost the toss. The visitors got off to a fantastic start as both the batters managed to find their rhythm early on in the innings. The duo had added 37 runs inside the first 8 overs. Hardik Pandya who came in to bowl the 9th over was smashed for a boundary in the second and third delivery consecutively by Litton Das. The third ball was hit straight back down the ground right past the bowler. Pandya who was in his follow through tried to stop the ball with his right foot by placing it in the ball’s path.
In an attempt to do so he twisted his left ankle and was down on the ground straightaway. Despite getting medical aid from the physio and other staffs immediately, Hardik couldn’t continue and had to leave the field with three balls in the over remaining. Almost immediately, Virat Kohli took up the responsibility to complete the over by bowling the remaining three deliveries himself much to the delight of the spectators. The crowd this got to see Virat Kohli bowl once again in white ball cricket after a period of 6 long years.
Virat conceeded 2 runs from the three deliveries he bowled and in the process managed to stop the flow of runs to some extent by breaking the rhythm that the openers were in at the moment. Kuldeep Yadav eventually broke the opening partnership for 93 after he sent Tanzid Hasan back for 51.
