MS Dhoni played one of his best ODI innings of his life in the 3^rd ODI at Jaipur on 31^st October 2005. He scored 183 against Sri Lanka who had won the toss and set a target of 299. The Century from Kumar Sangakkara and MaheJayawardene contributed to this healthy total.

Chasing the target, India lost the first wicket of Sachin Tendulkar at 7 runs. Most unexpectedly Rahul Dravid the captain promoted Dhoni for 1 down. He started showing his massive stroking abilities. From one end he scored fluently while at the second end, 3 batsmen gave strike to MS Dhoni who scored 183 off 145 balls with 15 fours and 10 sixes. He remained not out till the goal was achieved with 23 balls to spare.
